Progetto 300

mmm lekker :

This is what I received:

Paint was applied over rust. The seat post broke while I was riding it.

The engine had broken cooling fins and stripped studs that were painted over.

The engine was not rebuilt.

There is a lot of plastic filler on the body.

The carburetor was original and didn't work properly

The transmission pops out of 4th gear.

The gas tank had flakes of metal in it.

The brake drum had cracks in it.

The speedometer gear at the front wheel broke.

The fuel lever should be flush, but sticks out 2".

The floor board has a crack.

The mirrors lost their finish within a year (the scooter was stored)

The center stand is not the proper one. The scooter can be pushed off with a light touch.

The lights dim considerably at idle.

The bike stalls often at idle.

The suspension rattles. The shocks and springs were painted over.

heb je de hele advertentie al gelezen. Dit is geen curryhandelaar die mensen in't zak wil zetten, in tegendeel

1967 Vespa VLB 150 purchased from Vietnam "rebuilder".

Distinctive Pistachio & Cream paint.

Received May, 2007. Now has 54 miles on it.

I can't mention the name of the SELLER in this ad or display

the name in a public reply to a question (Ebay has canceled this listing twice),

but I can respond to you privately if you post a question.

and...Ebay - Yes, the scooter is for sale, even though there may

be another motive for this listing.

What I read (any you may, too) is that I would get a quality rebuilt vintage

Vespa - body, engine, shocks, brakes, etc.

This is what I received:

* Paint was applied over rust. The seat post broke while I was riding it.

* The engine had broken cooling fins and stripped studs that were painted over.

A second engine was sent to me by the SELLER,

but it was a repainted stock engine, complete with

stripped bolts and a cracked brake drum.

A motorcycle/scooter mechanic did get the engine in and running, but the brakes need sorting out.

If I don't sell it, we'll try to sort it out in the Spring. It's not horrible, but it isn't what it was supposed to be.

BEWARE of any Vespas with this paint scheme.

They also are shown in tan & cream, black, red and other combinations.

Search Google for “vintage vespa”. The blog and group postings indicate

that 75% of the scooters from Vietnam will have major problems.

Control your shiny paint / glittering chrome lust. I still have it looking at

the current listings, and mine looked the same.

But if you can get one on the cheap, you’d have money left

over to replace parts.

NOTE: The company who sold me this Vespa pulled their listings early, and may be

relisting two scooters under new SELLER names.

The problem with Vietnamese scooters is the quality of the parts. They are manufactured

in India and Vietnam, and won’t last long. This includes the parts to rebuild the engines.

Then there’s the integrity of the body and steering assembly.

I heard from an expert in Vespas and Lambrettas. (He owns 23). He’s the person to talk to before buying any vintage scooter, and I’ll be glad to provide you with his phone number.
